Pay Rate
$22 - $30 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
- Installation and removal of various types of low-voltage cabling, including fiber optic, CAT 5, and CAT 6 cabling
- Pull, terminate, neatly label, and test all standard industry cable types in a variety of topologies
- Mount, dismount, connect, and disconnect various types of low-voltage systems equipment, including but not limited to audio/visual, access control, cellular DAS, emergency responder BDA, computers (including peripherals),
networking (switches and Wi-Fi), surveillance, structured cabling, and telephone systems (as specified per project)
- Transport, maintain, store, and safely utilize tools and implements including ladders, lifts, hoists, dollies, and other cutting instruments, punch-down tools, fasteners, drills, etc.
Read blueprints and install
according to plans - Understand topology concepts such as IDF, MDF, BDR, riser, conduit, line-of-sight, etc.
- Maintain an inventory of on-hand quantities of fiber optic cables, fiber optic jumpers, CAT6 cables, CAT6 jumpers and connectors.
- Remove unused and/or abandoned network cabling and equipment
- Install and test premise fiber and CAT 6 infrastructure cabling and connectors
- Document all work using the generated Incident and Service Requests system
- Install racks and IT equipment in the data centers following all applicable standards
- Ensure IT equipment is connected to specific security levels, documented, and labeled as prescribed to the Network Installation Standards
- Troubleshoot network issues pertaining to the cabling infrastructure
- Identify and repair fiber and CAT5/6 cabling issues/breaks to include the supporting cabling hardware

Basic Qualifications
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 1 - 3 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience installing and testing premise CAT5/CAT6 or fiber infrastructure cabling and connectors
- Low Voltage Cabling, Network Cabling, Cabling, Structured Cabling, Access Control
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess industry recognized fiber-optic certification to include Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) certification (preferred), FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), ETA
Fiber Optics Installer (FOI), ETA Fiber Optics Technician (FOT).
